Dell Ubuntu on M1330

As the votes and comments on IdeaStorm continue to grow, Dell is still listening to the customer feedback on Linux. Today we announced that customers in Germany, United Kingdom, France and now Spain will be able to purchase Ubuntu Linux 7.10 on the M1330, in addition to the Inspiron 530n.

IdeaStorm members miceagol , technikal, and piratehead contributed great ideas on how Dell could improve its Ubuntu offerings by recommending a clean install on a lighter system with better specs. Thanks to the entire community for the insightful conversations that helped these ideas become a reality for Dell customers.

Update: Ubuntu is now also available in China , Canada and Latin America.

Back to the ideas: Ubuntu on 12.1 or 13.3 inch laptops ; Offer Ubuntu on the XPS M1330 laptop ; Put Ubuntu on a laptop with better specs

Cool. When do we get better Ubuntu desktops? I have an idea on IdeaStorm about offering XPS 720s as high end Ubuntu desktops. I've been using Ubuntu exclusivly for around a year now on an XPS 700 with no major problems. See IdeaStorm for the details

Are Dell selling embeded Windows on the M1330n, which is a Ubuntu platform?

If that is not the case then Dell really needs to update the M1330n product information page. Which at the moment is the same page as the standard M1330. The video on this page talks about being able to use Microsoft Office products "without powering up the PC". A phrase which is also inaccurate.

Why is the M1330 only available with the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 3100 video card? The Inspiron 1420N can be purchased with the NVIDIA  GeForce Go 8400M GS...

Otherwise, kudos to Dell for putting this idea in action!

Great job Dell for expanding Linux model offerings and regional availability.  As a Canadian, I'm still waiting to have the opportunity to purchase a preinstalled Ubuntu system from Dell.  I'd rather not look else where but I've been holding on for a while now.  Please offer these systems to your Canadian customers.

Please put forth this idea in INDIA as soon as possible. If you start officially supporting or perhaps giving away options for pre-installed OS w.r.t Ubuntu as an option, it would be great and u can sweep Indian market.

Please i request kindly dell to put forth this in India.

So how about Dell comes clean with the remote control unit it advertised with this this product and failed to include when I ordered one. I now have an M1330n which does not have a remote control that lives in the express card slot. Instead I have a blank that lives in the express card slot.

Yeah, Dell not giving the M1330N customers the remote control it is advertised with is absurd.
