Dark side of the Sun

A few days ago, Sun announced that they were going to turn their ZFS file system and other storage software into an open source initiative.  Chuck Hollis and I both posted in our respective blogs about it, as well as taking the discussion up on The Future of Storage.

The concern we share is whether or not the support for ZFS will get you through a "bad storage day"

That was all before their Sun's earnings announcement yesterday. Now I'm more inclined to wonder if there is a plan there at all or if it is just hoping for the best. Zilla-man piled on too.  Nonetheless, I'm putting him in the penalty box for sportsmanlike conduct for holding his tongue previously.
